I find people, and the things they do, endlessly fascinating. I also have a bit of a thing for history, art and culture, so I tend to base my photography around these things.
If you have an event or exhibition you need a photographer for, or you’d like some environmental portraiture, please keep reading to see if I can help out.
Events may come in many shapes and forms, but they all have one thing in common: they need photographing. Whether your event is a festival; a music or theatre performance; a seminar or conference; a charity fundraiser; or a launch party for your new business or product, I’d love to come along with my camera and document the day for you.
I’m happy to get stuck right in with the crowds and capture the party atmosphere, but equally at ease with hanging further back with my camera set to silent to photograph speakers or performers who need to be distraction free.
Environmental portraits are great for those who don’t want or need formal, posed headshots and portraits. Instead, they’re ‘action’ photos of you at work or play in your environment.
I’ll spend a couple of hours photographing you in your environment, so you can get a series of photos highlighting the everyday activities of your business or group. These kind of photos are great not only for using on your website and printed material, but are also great fun for sharing online to bring that personal, ‘behind the scenes’, inclusive feel for your followers.
Environmental portraits are really well suited to those running small businesses in the service industry such as restaurants, cafes and shops. They’re also a great option for local interest societies, artists, musicians and re-enactment groups.
You can book a session to document the usual day-to-day workings of your business or group, or capture a specific project – a piece of artwork you’re working on, perhaps, or documenting your cooking up of a brand new dish, for example.
Whether permanent or temporary, you may decide you need your exhibition documenting, either for promotional purposes or for your own archive.
I can come along and photograph your exhibition and its contents out-of-hours or before it opens if you need it photographed without visitors – or with just the artist(s) or curator(s) for press releases. I fit in to exhibition spaces easily; I pack down into a single suitcase and any additional lighting I might need to use is compact and unobtrusive.
If you’d like your exhibition photographed with visitors to get some promotional shots for your website, printed material and online social media, I can come out when you expect to be at your busiest to get some great, crowd-filled shots.
I can also work with you to produce images for an exhibition, for using on information panels, for example.
Prices are dependent on the job itself. However, if you have ongoing needs for a minimum of six months either for a specific project, or your business or group needs a photographer regularly, you can hire me on a monthly retainer, which will be charged at a lower rate than for a one-off job.
Delivery of photographs
I’ll upload your photographs to a folder on Dropbox. With the link I send you, you can view and download your photographs, even if you don’t have a Dropbox account yourself. If you would prefer your photos on a memory stick, please let me know when you book me.
Your photos will be delivered at full size and print-quality resolution; however, I can also do you smaller versions optimised for using online, if requested when booking.
I deliver my photos either in colour, with minimal processing; in black and white; or a mixture of the two. I don’t use filters or presets to give the photos special effects (such as those used on Instagram); I prefer to give you your photos without these filters so they don’t date or fall out of fashion. However, you’re welcome add your own filters to your photographs once you’ve downloaded, if you wish.
If you’d like to have a chat about your photography needs, you can email me or leave a message on my contact page, obligation free. I won’t add you to a mailing list, start harassing you or pass your details onto anyone else.
